Soriano dines with former board colleagues

Several Catalan media report that former Barcelona economic vice-president Ferran Soriano has on Thursday evening held a dinner at his house in Barcelona to discuss his participation in the elections for president of FC Barcelona in June.

Catalan newspaper El Periódico claims that all seven board members who left the club together with Soriano in 2008 were present: former vice-presidents Albert Vicens and Marc Ingla, and former board members Xavier Cambra, Antoni Rovira, Clàudia Vives-Fierro, Evarist Murtra and Josep Lluís Vilaseca. Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Murtra didn't take part.

Nunez takes distance from candidate

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that former Barcelona president Josep Lluís Núñez distances himself from Catalan businessman Juan Manuel Alcaraz [picture], who is seriously considering to be a candidate in the elections for president of FC Barcelona in June.

After news reports had suggested that Alcaraz could get the support of the Núñez family, the entourage of the ex-president reportedly made clear to the paper that Núñez has no link at all with Alcaraz. The former Barcelona president would not plan to play any role in the elections.

Rosell continues to be favourite for the gamblers

Madrid sports tabloid Marca reports that former Barcelona sports vice-president Sandro Rosell continues to be the favourite of the gamblers at online betting exchange site 'Betfair'.

With a profit of 1,22 euro for each euro input on Friday, Rosell is given the most chance to become the next president of FC Barcelona, ahead of Barcelona first vice-president Alfons Godall, who has a rate of 4,10.

Former Barcelona economic vice-president Ferran Soriano and current Barcelona assets vice-president Jaume Ferrer are third and fourth in the ranking with rates of respectively 8,00 and 8,22.

Benedito putting emphasis on financial transparency

In an interview with this blog, Barcelona presidential candidate Agustí Benedito has made clear that one of the key points of his election program ahead of the presidential elections in June will be financial transparency.

Benedito for example wants to make public the personal estates of his future board team, and to start with, his candidacy plans to put the detailled costs of his campaign online: "I can advance you that when we will have launched our new website, we will start to implement the policy of transparency by publishing our accounts on there."

this emergency blog was set up after barcaelections2010.blogspot.com (that was founded in september of 2009) was without any previous warning taken down because of "spam".

apparently there exist some "spam blogs" that don't post real messages on the blog but produce tons of spam posts. blogger wants to eliminate those but it seems their procedures aren't very accurate because there are many blogs taken down without being actual "spam blogs".

we will try to get the other blog back online (in the first place because of the archive) but it seems that the procedure can take a while, so the elections might well be over when we have it back.

update: this night my google account has been restored and barcaelections.blogspot.com is back online. the "spam blog" was apparently the blog i use as some kind of archive, where i put links to the stories in the catalan and spanish press so i can find them back when i need them. that is a closed blog that the public cannot see, so don't know how it could be used for spam. don't have that one back yet, but the main thing is that i do have my google account and the main blog back, so for you everything returns to normal.
